Sikh Union Supports “Kenya Day”

Sikh Union members attended a “Kenya Night” organised by Mrs Sue Fry at the Ryton Methodist Church in Bulkkington, Warwickshire on Friday 10th February 2017.
This event was for promoting awareness of Hope Nursery School which is located in the slums of Kisumu in Kenya, and also for raising funds which are desperately needed for this school which is entirely funded by the efforts of Sue Fry who started this school about eleven years ago for the children of poor families living in the slum.
Chairman Palvinder Singh Chana presented a cheque for £300 to Sue Fry. Other Sikh Union members present were Harjinder Singh Sembhi and Surinder Singh Bhamra.
Sikh Union also provides occasional funding for other schools in Kenya, but our main projects are for the provision of water boreholes in the Makindu region of Kenya and free dental surgeries at the Makindu Hospital. This is done in association with our partners.
Palvinder said ” We have long standing connections in Kenya where many of the Sikh Union members came from, and we feel that this is a very small part give back to communities which were once our home”.
